The authors analyze the impact of environmental news in print media on firms' environmental performance. Using data from a survey of industrial facilities in the Republic of Korea, probit estimation results indicate that the publication of environmental news in print media and the firm's awareness of this publication are important predictors of a firm's environmental performance, more so than environmental laws, regulations, and environmental training. This paper thus reemphasizes the key role of media in influencing firms' environmental performance. 2012-06-21T20:34:32Z 2012-06-21T20:34:32Z 2006-04 http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/2006/04/6731235/firms-environmental-performance-news-matter http://hdl.handle.net/10986/8714 English Policy Research Working Paper; No. 3888 CC BY 3.0 IGO http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo/ World Bank World Bank, Washington, DC Publications & Research :: Policy Research Working Paper Publications & Research
