The composites were characterized by tensile testing, impact testing, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry and Fourier transformation infra-red spectroscopy. A significant increase in mechanical and interfacial properties was found for composites due to simultaneous alkali and ultrasound treatment.
