Nowadays, biofertilizer is one of the best technology used in the agricultural field to replace chemical fertilizer. The beneficial of microorganisms contained in biofertilizer to increase plant growth and yield. The successful of using biofertilizer toward paddy growth and yield production depend on the beneficial of microorganisms. Microorganisms are commonly used as biofertilizer component are phosphorus solubilising, nitrogen fixers (N-fixer), Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) and phosphate mobilizing. The usage biofertilizer, can help in increasing paddy growth and yield production. It is because biofertilizer is ecofriendly, economical, easy availability while chemical fertilizer and more efficient. Chemical fertilizer is not environmentally friendly and in a long time period usage will give negative effect to, air and water. It also will have strengthened pesticide. This review paper highlighted the effect of biofertilizer on the growth and yield of rice and advantages and disadvantage of biofertilizer and chemical fertilizer.
