Summary:The study aimed to examine the perceptions of trainee teachers towards the use of language arts activities in teaching listening and speaking. The study was done on semester 8 students of TESL programme in UiTM Section 17 who had gone for their practicum session in 2013. The aspect that is being highlighted in this study is: how the use of language arts activities helps in the process of teaching English language especially in listening and speaking. In this study, 74 semester 8 students of TESL programme in UiTM Section 17 were the sample of the study. A set of questionnaire was distributed to each respondent and their perceptions on the use of language arts activities in teaching listening and speaking were explored. The questions focus on the trainees’ general opinions regarding the use of language arts activities in teaching and also on its significance in teaching listening and speaking. The data obtained were then analyzed using the Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) and the findings of the study indicated that the semester 8 UiTM TESL students agreed that language arts activities help in the process of teaching English language especially in listening and speaking.
