Between 1 and 2 percent of the population is identified as having a disability. Youth with disabilities sometimes live in poorer households, but the extent of this concentration is typically neither large nor statistically significant. However, youth with disabilities are almost always substantially less likely to start school, and in some countries have lower transition rates resulting in lower schooling attainment. The order of magnitude of the school participation disability deficit is often larger than those associated with other characteristics such as gender, rural residence, or economic status differentials. 2012-06-20T18:19:35Z 2012-06-20T18:19:35Z 2005-12 http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/2005/12/6466043/disability-poverty-schooling-developing-countries-results-11-household-surveys http://hdl.handle.net/10986/8546 English Policy Research Working Paper; No. 3794 CC BY 3.0 IGO http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo/ World Bank World Bank, Washington, DC Publications & Research :: Policy Research Working Paper Publications & Research Latin America & Caribbean East Asia and Pacific Europe and Central Asia Africa Romania Myanmar Jamaica Sierra Leone Indonesia Burundi Cambodia Mongolia Mozambique |
