The results suggest that migration is used by rural households as a pathway out of agriculture: migration is negatively associated with the allocation of both labor and non-labor inputs in agriculture, while no significant differences can be detected in terms of farm technical efficiency or agricultural income. Whether the rapid demographic changes in rural areas triggered by massive migration, possibly combined with propitious land and rural development policies, will ultimately produce the conditions for more viable, high-return agriculture attracting larger investments remains to be seen. 2012-06-06T21:34:59Z 2012-06-06T21:34:59Z 2007-09 http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/2007/09/8358200/vanishing-farms-impact-international-migration-albanian-family-farming http://hdl.handle.net/10986/7355 English Policy Research Working Paper; No. 4367 CC BY 3.0 IGO http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo/ World Bank World Bank, Washington, DC Publications & Research :: Policy Research Working Paper Publications & Research Europe and Central Asia Albania
