Whether and by how much overlapping property rights reduce investment incentives, and the scope for policies to counter such disincentives, are thus important policy issues. Using information on parcels under ownership and usufruct by the same household from a nationally representative survey in Uganda, the authors find significant disincentives associated with overlapping property rights on short and long-term investments. The authors make suggestions on ways to eliminate such inefficiencies. 2012-06-06T16:12:03Z 2012-06-06T16:12:03Z 2007-08 http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/2007/08/8065448/overlapping-property-rights-reduce-agricultural-investment-evidence-uganda http://hdl.handle.net/10986/7266 English Policy Research Working Paper; No. 4310 CC BY 3.0 IGO http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo/ World Bank World Bank, Washington, DC Publications & Research :: Policy Research Working Paper Publications & Research Africa Uganda |
