| Summary: | The objective of this study is to
develop a labor supply and demand projection model that can
simulate the evolution of both the supply and demand sides
of the labor market under varying policy and socioeconomic
assumptions and provide a standard customizable methodology
that can be applied across countries. The structure of this
report is organized into five sections. Section two provides
a brief overview of Cote d’Ivoire and the Democratic
Republic of Congo contexts in terms of their macroeconomic
and demographic backgrounds, education performance, and
labor market settings. Section three presents the data used
in this study and discusses in detail the methodologies
employed to undertake the labor supply and demand
projections, and the limitations associated with these
methodologies. Section four presents and discusses the key
findings from the labor supply and demand projection
analysis and, finally, Section V provides the main
conclusions and policy recommendations. The annex section
provides a detailed methodological note, a brief description
of the identification of structural3 and aspirational4 peer
countries, and a brief overview of factors influencing
demand for skills. |
