The paper presents new evidence on: (i) the concern of public opinion about pensions in five European countries (France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and the United Kingdom), as approximated by Google Trends data; (ii) the relationship between measures of online search volume and coverage by traditional media (i.e., national newspapers); and (iii) the volume and framing of newspaper coverage for a specific reform (i.e., the 2011 Italian reform). On the demand (users) side, the paper considers pension literacy as an element to increase the effectiveness of reforms. 2019-05-15T14:13:41Z 2019-05-15T14:13:41Z 2019-04 Working Paper http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/704081557816965956/Information-and-Financial-Literacy-for-Socially-Sustainable-NDC-Pension-Schemes http://hdl.handle.net/10986/31703 English Social Protection and Jobs Discussion Paper; No. 1924 CC BY 3.0 IGO http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo World Bank World Bank, Washington, DC Publications & Research Publications & Research :: Working Paper Europe and Central Asia France Germany Italy Sweden United Kingdom
