Summary: | This book is part of an ongoing series published by CRC Press under the title
“Drought and Water Crises: Science, Technology, and Management Issues.” Drought in Brazil:
Proactive Management and Policy provides an important story of recent efforts
in Brazil to move the country away from crisis management to proactive
management of droughts in order to demonstrate how development practitioners
and government officials might achieve similar paradigm shifts in
other countries. The recent advancements in drought management
and policy in Brazil, while are in part very technical and scientific in
nature, are first told in more of a story-telling format (Chapters 1 through 9)
that will appeal to policy makers and development practitioners alike. The more technical details are elaborated upon in the second part of the book
(Chapters 10 through 12).
