Taking advantage of a novel firm-level data set on information and communications technology for Mexico, the study finds that firms facing higher competition appear to have more incentives to increase their use of information and communications technology. Accordingly, although there is indeed a positive relation between information and communications technology use and firm performance, this effect is greater for firms that face higher competition pressures, which is consistent with the theoretical predictions of the trade-induced technical change hypothesis. 2016-05-04T15:13:57Z 2016-05-04T15:13:57Z 2016-04 Working Paper http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/2016/04/26208173/ict-use-competitive-pressures-firm-performance-mexico http://hdl.handle.net/10986/24201 English en_US Policy Research Working Paper; No. 7629 CC BY 3.0 IGO http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo/ World Bank World Bank, Washington, DC Publications & Research Publications & Research :: Policy Research Working Paper Latin America & Caribbean Mexico
