It was created to provide an avenue for redress by citizens for complaints against public sector bodies - part of the Government s drive to improve the public sector. Such a body is important in providing checks and balances in a government dominated by a strong executive branch. It also provides an alternative process of dispute resolution to filing cases in courts, thus relieving pressure on the court system and providing a means of redress that may prove more accessible than the courts for certain categories of disputes. 2015-01-20T16:20:50Z 2015-01-20T16:20:50Z 2015-01 http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/2015/01/23803783/jordan-ombudsman-bureau-enhanced-capacity http://hdl.handle.net/10986/21288 English en_US MENA knowledge and learning quick notes series;no. 137 CC BY 3.0 IGO http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo/ World Bank, Washington, DC Publications & Research :: Brief Publications & Research Middle East and North Africa Jordan
