Almost 70 percent of schools in the Netherlands are administered by private school boards, and all schools are government funded equally. This allows school choice. Using an instrument to identify school choice, it is shown that the Dutch system promotes academic performance. The instrumental variables results show that private school attendance is associated with higher test scores. Private school size effects in math, reading, and science achievement are 0.17, 0.28, and 0.18. 2014-08-29T17:16:48Z 2014-08-29T17:16:48Z 2010-01 http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/2010/01/11692513/private-education-provision-public-finance-netherlands http://hdl.handle.net/10986/19861 English en_US Policy Research Working Paper; No. 5185 CC BY 3.0 IGO http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo/ World Bank, Washington, DC Publications & Research :: Policy Research Working Paper Publications & Research Europe and Central Asia Netherlands Netherlands
