The potential endogeneity is addressed through the use of difference-in-difference and instrumental variable estimators. A negative effect of working on learning outcomes in math and Portuguese is found. The effects of child work range from 3 to 8 percent of a standard deviation decline in test score, which represents a loss of about a quarter to a half of a year of learning on average. 2014-06-25T22:21:51Z 2014-06-25T22:21:51Z 2014-06 http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/2014/06/19611209/child-labor-learning http://hdl.handle.net/10986/18774 English en_US Policy Research Working Paper; No. 6904 CC BY 3.0 IGO http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo/ World Bank, Washington, DC Publications & Research :: Policy Research Working Paper Publications & Research Latin America & Caribbean Brazil |
