The study concludes with a set of policy recommendations (that is, limits to vertical integration and to the duration of contracts between oil companies and gasoline stations) which were subsequently implemented by the Argentine government. This was one of the rare occasions where the Argentine antitrust authorities exercised its advocacy role in a country that underwent an extensive process of deregulation and privatization. Serebrisky assesses the design and impact of the policies recommended by the Argentine antitrust authorities. In particular, he evaluates under which circumstances the new policies can reduce barriers to entry and foster competition in the Argentine gasoline market. 2014-04-30T18:57:18Z 2014-04-30T18:57:18Z 2003-09 http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/2003/09/2516826/role-advocacy-competition-policy-case-argentine-gasoline-market http://hdl.handle.net/10986/18111 English en_US Policy Research Working Paper; No. 3130 CC BY 3.0 IGO http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo/ World Bank, Washington, DC Publications & Research :: Policy Research Working Paper Publications & Research Latin America & Caribbean ARGENTINA
