Description
Summary:Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is an essential metabolite of the cyclooxygenase pathway in the human body. However, excessive production of PGE2 has been implicated with a variety of inflammatory and cancer diseases. Studies have revealed that blockade of PGE2 production could enhance the innate immune function both in vitro and ex vivo experiments. Hence, this could serve as a useful strategy for preventing and treating inflammation and cancer in related individuals. Natural products have been of great interest for many years, and have provided modern medicine with numerous useful drug leads. One of the families of natural products that has been widely explored for their biological activities is the chromones.
