Summary: | ‘Knowledge and education’ in the Muslim world as the source of Muslim decline and malaise
modern knowledge, more specifically modern disciplines, are not value-free nor ideology-free.
All modern disciplines, especially the social/human sciences taught in universities in the world were born in the last 300 years and have ‘foundations’ that represent western European worldview, history and experience (al-Attas, 1978; Faruqi, 1981)
Many aspects of this worldview may not be in line with the Islamic worldview. Hence, meaning of goals and the policies to achieve them, may also be unacceptable and need to be modified or rejected. |
